Service description:
Living with Autism's (15 bed) 'Haddon House' offers respite care, residential and complex care services. They recognise that you have a choice about how you want to live your life. Everybody has strengths and talents but people sometimes need extra support. They offer support based on what you need and place great emphasis on your personal choice and developing independence.

Residential Care

Haddon House offers a residential home for adults with autism. By understanding the different ways people with autism communicate they work with residents to help them achieve their goals. They also provide support for individuals who have other difficulties as well as autism.

Complex Care

Haddon House offers a dedicated unit for adults who have extra support needs (complex care needs and/ or challenging behaviours). As part of the provision, they offer therapeutic and recreational activities both within the unit and suitably risk assessed locations in the local community.

Respite

Living With Autism offer respite and short term breaks for people with autism and their families.

They understand that sometimes the day to day experiences of living with autism can present challenges, which if not managed effectively, can lead to exhaustion and frustration and the possibility of individuals needing full time support outside of the family home.

The respite care program is one way of helping families manage these challenges by offering regular time-limited breaks in a safe and supportive environment.

To minimise disruption as much as possible, Living With Autism work with families to understand their home routines and replicate these in the home as far as achievable. They involve service users in choosing from activities on offer in order to develop individual programs of activities throughout their stay.
