The Lighthouse Trust helps schools support the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development (SMSC) of children and young people, in line with Government guidelines. The trust has a Christian ethos, but is committed in serving children and young people regardless of creed, race, or faith.
The Lighthouse Trust provides school assemblies in line with Government guidelines for collective worship in schools. The assemblies are Christian in nature and generally follow the SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) themes in primary schools.
In secondary schools, they help schools meet their SMCS statutory requirements by ensuring a daily act of worship.
The trust are currently involved with around 35 schools in and around Northampton.
Personal and Social Skills Classroom Support
The Lighthouse Trust runs a ‘Getting On - Making Friends’ project, which addresses the emotional needs of primary school pupils and develops their life skills. It offers pupils alternatives to becoming disengaged (and risking exclusion) with drama and music.
Religious Education (RE) Support
The Lighthouse Trust can support R.E. lessons that follow the new Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. They can be flexible and are continually developing new Christian resources for R.E lessons.
Gap year Opportunities
Every year, many Christians aged 18-25, spend a year from September helping to change things for the better as a volunteer for a Christian organization. Contact the Lighthouse Trust for more information.
The Lighthouse Trust offer workshops to support a school’s transition work with Year 6 children.
