National Organisation
Address:
Grants Department, 161 Hammersmith Road, Hammersmith, London W6 8SG
Telephone number:

Service description:
When your child is being treated for cancer, you will almost certainly have extra costs. This is a worry for many parents, especially if you have to reduce your working hours to care for your child.

CLIC Sargent can help families access the financial support, such as benefits, allowances and grants, which may be available to you.

CLIC Sargent social workers may be able to help ease the money worries that families may be facing by providing access to CLIC Sargent grants and information about benefits.

They can also help parents apply for the benefits they are entitled to, and speak to their employers if they need to reduce their working hours, work flexibly or take unpaid leave.

A CLIC Sargent standard grant is a one-off grant that is offered to children and young people with cancer, and their families. This can help meet the sudden extra costs that a cancer diagnosis can bring. The grant is available at any time within the first 12 months of diagnosis, and can be used to cover food, travel or other day-to-day costs.

CLIC Sargent provides other grants that you may be entitled to. You can find out more information about these by speaking to a CLIC Sargent Social Worker.

The CLIC Sargent website has links to information and resources for parents, children, young people and professionals including teachers. There is an on-line community for young people aged between 16 and 24 who have, or have had cancer. For under 13's there is a magazine called "Shout Out"
