An Access to Work grant can pay for practical support if you have a disability, health or mental health condition to help you:
• start working
• stay in work
• move into self-employment or start a business
Young people who are on or about to start a placement of supported internship, or traineeship with a disability or health condition, can apply to the Department for Work and Pensions' Access to Work fund.
Some services that young people can apply for:
• funding of their travel (providing additional costs incurred are due to the additional needs of their disability)
• the cost of a support worker
• specialist equipment for the days they are present on the employer’s premises.
The Access to Work grant cannot be used as part of starting up a business.
