Service description:
The Northamptonshire Parent Forum Group (NPFG) is an independent group formed and run by parent volunteers to represent the views of families with children and young people up to the age of 25 with special educational needs and /or disabilities (SEND) in Northamptonshire.

NPFG is one of 153 parent carer forums in the country who engage with the local authority, health and education partners on a strategic level to shape and improve services for children and young people with SEND and their families.

Forums are “pan disability” which means they are for parent carers of children with all types of SEND.

When parent forums work with their local authority they bring the views and experiences of a wide range of parent carers from the local area.

Parent carer forums are supported by grant funding from the Department for Education, and there is a clear requirement in the SEND Code of Practice that local authorities should work with their local parent carer forum.

NPFG gives parents a chance to share their experiences have their voices heard, to make a difference to SEND services their local area.
