Service description:
Clearly Speaking offer an independent Specialist Children and Family Services for all families in and around Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties who have children and young people/young adults from birth to twenty-five years who have any level of special needs and disabilities. They run a constant helpline (01280 824871), as well as a number of support services and activities.


Clearly Speaking currently specialise in supporting families who have a family member who has Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, learning difficulties and associated difficulties; including those who may be struggling with key aspects of becoming independent adults due to difficulties with social communication, self-esteem and confidence.

Clearly Speaking initiate referral streams if informal assessments identify an underlying difficulty which may be causing significant barriers to making good progress towards social relationships, employment or training etc.

They run individual support sessions and small group meetings to provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy based intervention adapted to suit the needs of individuals who are attending.

Clearly Speaking can provide action plans to support you achieve your goals for yourself or for your child/children by supporting you, giving you accurate helpful advice and information, or sign-posting you to appropriate agencies and services in your local area, or working directly with you, or working with your family as is appropriate.

Clearly Speaking can also support you to attend review and planning meetings with schools, colleges, nurseries, social care or health services. They can meet to help you to prepare for meetings, know your child’s entitlements etc. or, if we are available and you feel that an independent supporter would be helpful, they will come with you.

Clearly Speaking can prepare tribunal cases, translate official reports, take the lead in making an application for; Higher Tier Funding, SENDIST Appeals, and Education, Health, and Care Plans, providing a Keyworker role to support your family.

Schools and Nurseries

Clearly Speaking can also provide nurseries and schools with specialist advice and support regarding children and young people on the autistic spectrum, have ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties (such as Dyslexia and Dyspraxia) and mental health difficulties.

Children and Young People

Clearly Speaking run various social and leisure activities and services for children, teenagers and young adults ages from birth to 25, who have special needs and disabilities. These include:

• Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
• A gardening club
• Counselling services
• Clearly Cool youth clubs
• Volunteering opportunities
• Holiday activities


Clearly Speaking allow referrals from anywhere in the UK for specialist services provided by Janet Nicks. They can provide support via skype, phone call, or if you're willing to travel, at the centre in Buckingham.

Thhe activity clubs are available to anyone in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding counties.
