Service description:
Community Paediatricians are child health doctors who have been trained in hospital and in the community. They can help with medical assessments of children with delayed or unusual patters of early development, assessment and advice for health problems affecting education and school progress, care packages for disabled children and interagency meetings.

Children and young people do not need a formal diagnosis of learning disability to access community paediatric services. The offer is provided to children with global developmental delay, or moderate to severe learning difficulties as identified by educational assessment. This will include some children with known learning disability, some with undiagnosed learning disability, and some who do not meet criteria for a learning disability diagnosis.

We will work with all children from birth to school leaving age. We aim to work closely with parents and carers at all times and value feedback on our services.

Community Paediatricians have experience of working with families and as part of a team to assess children and coordinate services for those with chronic illnesses, disabilities learning difficulties and other special needs.
