The Children's CTPLD work with children up to the age of 18 years with learning disabilities who have complex healthcare needs. Our goals are to ensure that their healthcare needs are met by providing specialist assessment and intervention for those children that have complex physical or mental health needs or who display behaviours that challenge.
The team consists of Community Learning Disability Nurses and Clinical Psychologists.
The team works in partnership and cooperation with individuals, their families and carers, other agencies/services, particularly CAMHs, social care and therapy services.
- Age: 0 to 18yrs
- Learning disability: The child/young person must have a reduced ability to cope independently and a significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information and to learn new skills, the later offer being indicated by an IQ of less than 70. These difficulties must be present either from birth or have developed during the individuals early childhood.
Referrals by professionals e.g. GP, Community Paediatrician to be made through Referral Management Centre
