The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAHMS) Community Mental Health Team supports children and young people in Northamptonshire who have severe and complex mental health difficulties. The service offers a range of out-patient therapies (delivered individually or in groups) at a number of localities across Northamptonshire.

• The CAMHS Early Response and Intervention Team at Isebrook Hospital
Provides the interface between Universal, Targeted and Specialist Services

• The CAHMS Eating Disorder Service at The Brambles
Provides a day unit for children and young people diagnosed with an eating disorder

• The CAMHS Initial Assessment Team at Isebrook Hospital
Undertakes assessments for a range of emotional and mental health difficulties

• The CAMHS Skills Based Intervention Team at Isebrook Hospital
Delivers skills-based groups and parent education workshops as a first intervention for the majority of children and young people referred to CAMHS

• The CAMHS Specialist Intervention Team (Psychiatry) at Newland House
Provides a range of specialist therapeutic interventions for children and young people in Northampton and South Northamptonshire

• The CAMHS Specialist Intervention Team (Psychiatry) at Sudborough House
Provides a range of specialist therapeutic interventions for children and young people in Kettering and North Northamptonshire

Severe and complex mental health difficulties might include:

• Acute psychiatric illness (such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia)
• Anxiety / generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
• Attachment disorder
• Depression / major depressive disorder (MDD)
• Mixed anxiety-depressive disorder
• Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) / chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
• Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Self-harm, attempted suicide, suicidal ideation / thoughts
• Severe phobias
• Somatization / psychosomatic disorders
• Substance misuse
• Unresolved bereavement

The service also has a Resolution and Response Team (CRRT) that offers services 7 days per week, from 9am-10pm, in order to support young people in mental health crisis who need intensive home packages, or significant risk monitoring. phone Children’s Resolution and Response Team
