Helen and Douglas House supports children, young people, and families when a child or young person has a life-limiting condition.

It serves Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Harrow, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, South Warwickshire, and Wiltshire. It is also commissioned to serve families in south Northamptonshire.

Helen and Douglas House aims to meet all the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of children, young people, and their families. It is split into two houses. Helen House cares for children aged 0-18 years-old. Douglas House cares for young adults aged 16-35 years-old.

Helen House

Helen House has eight beds in total, including two emergency beds. There are also four flats so the whole family can stay if they wish. It features a spa, a large art and play area, a games area, a music room, a sensory room, and lots of books and toys. There are often outings and activities going on to make the most of respite time.

The Helen House Care Team includes registered children's nurses, nursery nurses, carers, physiotherapist, play specialists, an aromatherapist and a teacher. A small team of specialist doctors provides 24-hour medical cover.

Douglas House

Douglas House has seven beds in total, including one emergency bed. It features a Jacuzzi, a games room, a sensory room, a music room, and even a bar. There are opportunities for days or evenings out and lots of fun activities. There is also the chance to meet other young people who are facing similar challenges, in an atmosphere that focuses on living life to the full.

The Douglas House Care Team includes registered nurses, registered learning disability nurses, carers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, an aromatherapist, and Care Team volunteers. A small team of specialist doctors provides 24-hour medical cover.
