Service description:
The Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust was established from the proceeds of the sale of the Florence Nightingale Hospital in 1975 and provide grants to help people in need who are ill, recovering from illness or disabled. These are used to provide medical and household aids that make a huge difference to people's ability to manage at home and live as independently as possible.

The Florence help with:

• respite care
• medical and other aids, e.g.
• nebulisers
• TENS machines
• recliner chairs
• electric beds
• orthopaedic mattresses
• mobile hoists
• neater eater feeding aids
• sensory equipment
• communication aids ie lightwriters
• specialist software
• household aids, eg washing machines
• refrigerators for essential drug storage
• secure drug cabinets

Breaks

The Florence do not fund holidays but will consider grants towards respite and organised specialist breaks for children and young adults.
