Grief Encounter supports bereaved children and their families to help alleviate the pain caused by the death of someone close. Their services are free, funded through the generosity of our supporters.

The Grief Encounter Helpline
The helpline is staffed by trained professionals to support bereaved children or families with advice and guidance. Call them during office hours on 0208 371 8455. Grief Encounter also offer a dedicated e-mail support service via

Family Programme
Grief Encounter offer a bespoke support service with professional counsellors determining personal plans for individuals. Services range from a supportive voice at the end of a phone, group activities with likeminded families at fun-days, grief groups and remembrance days, to long-term one-to-one counselling.

Specialist Resources
Grief Encounter provides specially-created ‘Grief Relief Kits,’ which are designed by a highly-qualified clinical team. The kits include books, memory-making materials, comforting toys, and other items to facilitate children’s grieving.

E-Counselling Services
Young people can contact Grief Encounter via email and Skype. Contact for more information.

Helpline/s The telephone helpline currently supports 3000 individuals per year and is staffed by people trained to support those suffering bereavement, or those in need of guidance to help a bereaved child or family. We currently offer an email helpline through which we use our professional advisors to answer approximately 3000 enquiries per year. Family Programme Families follow the programme for up to two years which includes workshops, one-to-one counselling, family fun days, remembrance days and residential camps. Specialist resources Items such as the Grief Relief Kit are provided to all those supported through the programmes. The unique kit developed with young people includes books, memory making materials, comforting toys and other items to facilitate children’s grieving. E-counselling Young people suffering from bereavement can get in contact via electronic methods – webcams, text messages, email or live chat.
