Type of service:
Schools And Education Providers
Complementary Education is a Local Authority service that provides education for pupils who are permanently excluded from school and for school age mothers. The service responds to the educational needs of pupils who would otherwise be attending mainstream/special schools.
Complementary Education has positive expectations of the behaviour and performance of each pupil. We foster an atmosphere of mutual respect between pupils and staff. Pupils have personalised learning plans, academic expectations are high and related to pupils' abilities. Pupils take appropriate external examinations.
The CE Academy consists of provision for: school age mothers at Overleys (Northampton) and Oaklands (Corby) sites; Key Stage 3 provision at William Knibb (Kettering), Spring Gardens (Wellingborough) and Chiltern House (Northampton); and Key Stage 4 provision at Cromwell (Northampton), Fairlawn (Wellingborough), London Road (Kettering) and Forest Gate (Corby).
Fairlawn is a single sex site for young women only. Cromwell and London Road provide single sex education for boys. All other Key Stage 3 and 4 provisions are co-ed sites.
