Home-Start Northampton is a registered charity and voluntary organisation.

Home-Start helps families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them. We support parents through a difficult time helping to improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. The benefits of our support include improved health and well-being and better family relationships.

Home-Start provides one-to-one support for parents from trained and committed home-visiting volunteers for 2 - 3 hours each week. All volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience. The support is tailor-made to meet the needs of the family. Support is for up to 6 months but if there is a requirement for it to continue further that is considered.

Parents and volunteers often develop a trusting relationship which leads to powerful change within the family.

In addition to home-visiting support we provide at least 3 social events for supported families a year.

All referrals, including self referrals and referrals from professionals, are directed to Home-Start via the family's local children's centre. Referrals for Home-Start can only be made with the family's consent.
