Service description:
Action Support is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise based in Northampton. They have a unique approach to delivering practical services in the community.

Action Support runs training projects and workshops, have retail outlets, and socially responsible activities - all helping to improve lives.

Action Support have devised the 'Train 4 Work' program for those out of work (long-term) for any reason. They offer training to enter the workplace (such as confidence-building skills, CV writing , and so on).

Opportunities to volunteer with us and learn the craft of furniture repair and restoration: upholstery: decorating and plumbing skills: gardening: office support and retail opportunities.

The company partners with a local training organisation, Options 2 in Northampton, to offer apprenticeships. They currently have apprenticeships studying team-leading and IT, and retail apprenticeships will soon to be available.

Action Support develops relationships with local employers and relevant agencies.

They work with employers and the client to offer on-going support in the workplace.

Action Support check employers follow the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 and the Equality Act 2010, and we highlight any issues.

Following an informal interview and a show around their premises, applicants are asked to complete a further volunteer form. Help completing the form will be available from the disability advisor at the Job Centre or support workers.

Action Support believe that one size does not fit all, and they try to match suitable applicants to appropriate work placements. The hours of which will be agreed between all concerned parties.
