Training For Your Business Needs

We are pleased to announce a new programme of accredited courses which support the training needs of Northamptonshire's local businesses. These include; First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, Food Safety Training and Food Allergen Awareness, as part of a range of courses designed to improve the way you work.

Northamptonshire County Council's Adult Learning Service has a proven track record of delivering accredited and non-accredited learning to a broad spectrum of learning needs. We want to work with local enterprise to help deliver quality training, that's current and affordable, to help our businesses be the best they can be. 

We have the flexibility to offer these courses at a time or venue of your choice. Courses are delivered by our highly experienced and professionally qualified trainers, and are tailor-made to suit the demands of staff in your organisation and their job roles.

​Basic Emergency Life Support
Simple skills to save lives! Many people who would otherwise die can be saved if simple life-saving skills are performed immediately. This course includes prioritising casualties, recovery position, cardiac arrest, suspected heart attack, choking and serious bleeding.

​First Aid at Work Certificate
This qualification demonstrates that an individual can undertake the role of First Aider in the Workplace, and can be relied upon by employers to satisfy the due diligence requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Successful completion of the course will result in gaining knowledge and skills that have been identified by the HSE for the safe, effective and prompt treatment of injuries and illness in the workplace.

​Paediatric First Aid
This qualification indicates an individual can undertake the role of Paediatric First Aider in a role that has responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. The award has been designed to fulfil the need for effective paediatric first aid training, set out in The Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance. The qualification will benefit all who work in the ‘early years’ environment and with young children.

Award in Food Allergen Awareness
This new course is in response to new government legislation about food allergies. It is aimed at those involved in manufacturing and preparation of food for public consumption in order to reduce the danger of consumers ingesting allergens. It is also of interest to anyone who wishes to know more about food allergies, their prevention and avoidance of triggers.

​Safe Moving and Handling at Work
This qualification demonstrates that an individual can undertake their duties in the workplace safely. Will benefit all who need to be introduced to safe moving and handling in the workplace and those who require refresher training.

​Fire Safety Control

This courses helps candidates recognise the ​consequences of a fire in any work based environment. The qualification emphasises the responsibility of everyone in respect of Fire Safety, and works towards building a greater understanding of Fire Safety Control.

​Mental Health First Aid Introductory Course
Gain a wider understanding of some issues surrounding mental health, know how mental health affects business and work more effectively with people experiencing mental health problems. This course is delivered by MHFA approved instructors who are accredited by The Royal Society for Public Health. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and a manual. (Course for up to 25 delegates and includes the cost of certification.)

Custom Training Programme

In addition to our accredited training programme, we are also able to design and deliver non-accredited custom-made courses and training days for the wellbeing of staff. These courses are a valuable and cost effective tool to increase staff morale and motivation and manage staff absence. Courses are designed to incorporate the specific requests of employers to meet the needs of their staff.
