Learn2b courses are free of charge to anyone who is currently experiencing any form of mental health distress.

Our tutors are selected specifically because of their own experiences of mental health illness. Qualified in subject matter and passionate about the principles of Learn2b, they are able to support individuals through a variety of teaching and learning in a safe and welcoming environment.

Even if you have had symptoms in the past and you want to learn some coping strategies, there will be a course for you.

Initially, courses are designed to encourage your wellbeing, give you an opportunity to have some ‘time out’, learn something new and start to gain confidence in a social setting with like-minded people.

When you are ready, you can think about moving on to courses that help improve self-esteem, confidence, and reduce anxiety or stress.

Building your resilience

Dealing with change or loss is an inevitable part of life. Some people seem to remain in control and calm in the face of disaster while others cannot cope. Instead of being overwhelmed or hiding from problems with unhealthy coping strategies, resilient people face life’s difficulties head on. This does not mean that they experience less distress, grief, or anxiety than other people do. It means that they handle such difficulties in ways that often foster a stronger person than before. Learn about your inner traits and how certain resources can help to develop emotional resilience.

Manage fatigue

Fatigue is usually a long-term condition which impacts on motivation and energy levels subsequently affecting our whole body’s ability to function such as the digestive system, the immune system and the respiratory system.

Creative writing

Not only can writing be enjoyable, but it can be an amazing therapeutic tool. The tutor will guide you through flexible exercises to suit everyone in the room, for example a selection of photographs can be used to start some descriptive writing which is very calming, or using the same set of photos someone may choose to make up their own character.

This course is about expression and not to check your level of literacy, so if you would like to
join this course but need any additional support from our teaching staff or would prefer to type rather than handwrite, then please let us know when you enrol.

Combination days

A combination day is where we bring together a number of tutors to give you an opportunity to try a variety of activities on the same day.

Some of the workshops will be brand new so that you get a flavour for what’s coming in the new autumn term and for you to meet new members of the teaching team. These days are very popular so it’s advisable to enrol quickly.
