Our service offer

Learning Resources for Education (LRE) is Northamptonshire’s schools library service.

We can help you maximise your budget by offering value for money through the provision of cost effective, quality learning resources, supporting curriculum delivery and literacy development.

We also offer long term loans and exchanges of resources to refresh and enhance your school's own materials specific to your needs.

Books are a vital component in supporting the delivery of the themes and principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Learning Resources for Education can support early years settings with books and other resources.

You can borrow an extensive range of picture books, board books, and non-fiction resources. We can put together a tailor made package to cater for your specific needs:

Full service level agreement

Learning Resources for Education understand the key priorities for primary schools and this is reflected in the service level agreements we offer.

Tailor made service level agreement

If the full service level agreement doesn't meet the requirements and budget of your school you can create a tailor made package.

Basic service level agreement

Our basic service level agreement suits smaller budgets and entitles you to the full range of services but in a smaller quantity.

Additional collections

You can enhance your subscription by adding additional collections and resources to your package. They could include:

These would increase variety to your school’s own literacy teaching resources for Foundation, Key Stage 1 and 2 children

Learning Resources for Education (LRE) makes a difference to the individual, the school community and the school’s performance. Reading for pleasure is a priority for Ofsted and LRE work with schools on ways to promote reading.

LRE can support you by:

  • supplying curriculum resources for Key Stage 3
  • supplying young adult fiction for ages 14 plus, 
  • working closely with you to keep your stock relevant and regularly exchanged;
  • using our up-to-date knowledge of books to add value and interest to the curriculum, and
  • helping to develop a reading culture at your school or college
  • Utilising your budget, including your pupil premium, to work with LRE on being outstanding.

What does a subscription include?

A subscription gives you:

  • current, cutting edge fiction that is regularly exchanged including the latest reads by authors such as Anthony Horowitz, Darren Shan and Charlie Higson
  • HiLo - High interest, low level reads to engage reluctant readers
  • graphic novels
  • e-books
  • telephone advice
  • networking opportunities through regular secondary schools meetings
  • free trips to Peters Booksellers and a 25% discount on purchases
  • input into planning, running and stocking a Learning Resource Centre

When do I need to sign up by?

Schools are requested to submit the form for their subscription electronically or in hard copy by the 27 February 2017. If we have not been notified by the school of any changes to their subscription by this date we will take this as a continuation of services bought in to for 2016-17
