Service description:
The Kettering and District RDA has around 36 volunteers operating on Wednesday and Thursday mornings (during term-time).

They provide riding lessons for around 50 children from 6 special schools in the county - Isebrook, Kingsley, Maplefields, Northgate, Wren Spinney and Rowan Gate.

The Kettering and District RDA own three ponies and have one on loan, which are all kept at a livery yard in Lowick (where they hold their riding sessions).

The aim of RDA is to provide disabled people the opportunity to ride (or drive) to benefit their health and wellbeing. Riding can be particularly beneficial to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties because it provides a multi-sensory experience. Riding can also help with communication and social skills, build confidence and awareness of others, and what’s more, it’s good fun.
