Service description:
- Short Breaks for Children

The Birtenshaw Short Breaks Centre provides a short break service for up to four children per-night, and enables children to have an enjoyable time while their family or main carers have a break.

The service has dedicated vehicles that enable young people to enjoy overnight stays or positive activities.

The centre also provides shared care facilities, which offer a more structured care arrangement. The child’s care is shared between the family home and the centre (typically on a 4 / 3 day arrangement).

- Short Breaks for Adults

The Birtenshaw Adult Short Breaks Centre offers high-quality care, support, and positive activities to young adults in an environment equipped with specialist facilities. Activities include arts and crafts, music and drama, and a range of outdoor opportunities (such as pony-riding, cycling and canal boat trips).

The service can be provided on a daily or weekly basis, depending on individual needs. It aims to promote independence through the enjoyment of meaningful activities.
