The Fellowship of the United Reformed Youth (also known as FURY for short) is a body of young people aged 11-25 within the United Reformed Church. It is led by the FURY Advisory Board (FAB) and FURY Executive (FE). There is one national event every year:
The United Reformed Church Youth Assembly takes place over one weekend, with workshops focusing on issues that surround young people within the church, and ‘Motions’ are brought forward ensuring further work is carried out by the FURY Advisory Board on behalf of FURY. FURY is the ‘umbrella’ organisation linking all young people associated with the United Reformed Church together, and as such encompasses organisations such as:
•URC Guide and Scout Fellowship
•Local church youth groups
•Girls’ Brigade (England & Wales, Scotland)
Evening sessions are usually held in Salem Hall and supervised by three CRB checked leaders. Our aim is to give the young people an opportunity to take part in a variety of inclusive social activities, which include indoor and outdoor games, cooking, quizzes, themed evenings, competitions and trips out. Each evening will also include a short quiet time, which is an opportunity for leaders and/or young people to lead a short devotional activity.
At present our group consists of around a dozen lively young people, with new members always welcome.
