Service description:
The Polish Saturday school meets at Woodnewton a Learning Community in Corby.
There are about 50 pupils attending our school regularly. Most of them live in Corby, but there are also children from Kettering, Market Harborough and Desborough. We meet on Saturdays between 9 and 12.
Our children learn in 5 age groups: 3-5; 5-6; 7-8; 8-10; 10-12 and GCSE group (all of our GCSE students have been marked with A and A*).
There are 6 teachers and 2 teacher's assistants helping the children to learn Polish language, to know Polish history and geography, culture, traditions and famous people.
We organise family events for the Polish community (the Apple Day, costume ball, the Christmas show, the Easter market, theatre performances, sports day etc.)
We are supported by our pupils' parents. They prepare snacks for the children, look after them during break-time, they tidy up after classes. They are also involved in all the school celebrations.
Our school cooperates with other supplementary schools and our children participate in many interschool meetings and competitions - multicultural festivals, Polish history knowledge competitions, art and poetry, football matches.
