Family Support Staff work closely with parents to support individual needs and to develop parenting. Alongside individual support for families and parenting courses the Family Support Staff and Volunteers also run 3 groups:
• PETAL (Positive Encouragement through Active Learning)
•Dads R Us
•Parenting Courses and the 1-2-3 Magic Programme
PETAL (Positive Encouragement through Active Learning) is for parents. The group is designed to address child development issues, parenting and life skills and to offer parents peer support. Jointly planned with parents the mixed programme includes sessions delivered by FAIR and other agencies (Mon 9.30am-12.30pm term time).
Dads R Us is on Saturday mornings, every 4 weeks, where Dads, Granddads, Step-dads and other male carers can access a range of activities and engage in quality time with their children.
The 1-2-3 Magic programme is a behavioural management programme for parents and other carers including teachers of children up to the age of 12. The programme explores adult-child relationships and the purpose of children's behaviour including sibling rivalry, conflicts and tantrums. The programme also explores how applying the rules of 1-2-3 Magic can make a positive difference to the parent-child relationship.
