Accessible information
Accessible information is content that is available to the widest possible audience, taking into consideration:

•the tools people use to obtain information, for example PCs, Apple Macs, mobile phones, tablets and assistive technologies
•the formats being used, including web pages, MS Word, PowerPoint and PDFs
•people's disabilities and how to improve access to our information

Ensuring that our information is accessible is the responsibility of every member of staff. We have a number of processes in place in order to improve the accessibility of our information.

Additional Student Support and Inclusion Services Team (ASSIST)
The Additional Student Support and Inclusion Services Team (ASSIST) provides support services for students, working with and alongside staff to encourage an inclusive and accessible university environment.

Services provided by ASSIST include:

•campus visits and information for disabled applicants to discuss accessibility, services available and the need for any adjustments or adaptations before starting their course
•screening appointments for students who may have specific learning differences (SpLDs), including dyslexia
•adjustments in examinations and time-constrained tests
•learning and teaching recommendations to outline the key areas of difficulty for disabled students, raise staff awareness and provide recommended adjustments
•individual in class or on site ASSIST facilitator support, including note taking, practical and research support
•arranging specialist external services, such as campus mobility orientation for blind students, braille transcription and sign language interpreters - usually funded through Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs)
•specialist learning support for students with SpLDs and other disabilities - usually funded through DSAs
•promoting safety on campus through risk assessments, minor adaptations and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)
•facilitating accessible car parking arrangements on campus
•working with other staff to encourage an accessible and inclusive learning and campus environment in order to support disabled students and enhance their university experience
