Starting your own business

Starting a new business can be both exciting and daunting. We can help with your queries and problems.

Business advice and support in the county:

  • Business support events – workshops and advice on a range of different areas about business start-up including intellectual property (IP), social media and websites, tax and record keeping and self-employment
  • Prospects is the careers service for young people in Northamptonshire, helping young people with their career ideas and the next steps after GCSEs and post 16 education.
  • Growth Hub - a dedicated support service run by the University of Northampton to help businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs based in the county to get started and grow their business
  • Business and IP Centre Northamptonshire – this library service supports entrepreneurs, inventors and small businesses from that first spark of inspiration to successfully launching and developing a business

Top tip: stick to what you know when starting a business. Set up a business plan based on a need you yourself have, that is not properly addressed by existing suppliers. [Source: the BBC]
