Energy partnerships

E-Car Club

In order to reduce the carbon intensity of the Energy and Carbon Management Team's travel requirements, the team have been working in partnership with E-Car Club since 2014 and have priority access for several E-Car electric vehicles.

E-Car electric vehicles are available for public use and can be found at four locations across Northamptonshire. Interested in low carbon travel? Find your nearest E-Car Club Hub by visiting the E-Car website.

British Gas

Partnership with British Gas is helping the Council to work towards a smarter, greener and more energy efficient Northamptonshire. They deliver help for local causes, as well as energy price certainty and warmer homes for residents across the county.

An alliance of this nature is unique for local government and has received national recognition by winning an award in the ‘Partnerships’ category at the Green Apple Awards ceremony held in November 2015.

National Energy Action (NEA)

Thanks to NEA and British Gas, an Affordable Warmth Action Plan has been developed specifically for Northamptonshire which aims to establish and co-ordinate activities that will reduce the impact of fuel poverty for households at risk across the county.

Co-operation with NEA has seen the entire Northants Fire Service trained in front-line energy awareness, with crews talked through a series of ‘trigger questions’ they can ask people during home fire safety checks to help identify those at risk to fuel poverty.

The dedicated 'Northamptonshire' section of the NEA website provides more information on the on-going work across the county.

Northants Warm Homes Partnership

The Northants Warm Homes Partnership brings together the district and borough councils of Northamptonshire to provide advice and support to residents on all energy-related matters.

With help from NEA and their Community Action Partnership (CAP) programme, a Northants Community Directory has been established which details guidance on all agencies offering advice on energy efficiency, fuel debt and other related support for vulnerable householders.

Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT)

WCIT have pledged to offer wide-ranging support to Northamptonshire County Council's Race to the Top strategy, and together with the Council, the University of Northampton and Code Club, have been able to establish an annual coding competition for schools to encourage increased and improved teaching of computer coding.

The winners of the 2016 Race To The Top Coding Competition were Park Junior School in Wellingborough and Kettering Buccleuch Academy for their energy-themed apps.

Schneider Electric

Northamptonshire County Council's move to Project Angel has been supported by Schneider Electric who carried out a major review of the mechanical and electrical specification (pre-tender) of the new building – ensuring that aspirations on its efficiency were included in the building specification.

Want to learn how to improve the energy performance of your building? Schneider Electric offer a life-long learning package to all Northamptonshire residents via The Energy University. Here you will find a FREE online educational resource, offering more than 200 courses on energy efficiency and data centre topics to help you identify, implement, and monitor efficiency improvements.
