Biodiversity and landscape

There are three particular documents that provide guidance in relation to biodiversity in Northamptonshire:

Consultation took place on a Biodiversity Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and an Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits Special Protection Area SPD in 2015. These two SPDs are now adopted for the Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering and Wellingborough districts and is expected to shortly be for Northampton Borough. Daventry and South Northamptonshire Districts will not be covered by these documents.

Environmental Character

Character assessment is used in determining planning and other decisions concerning the physical environment.

For environmental matters concerned with district council Local Development Frameworks (LDFs), or for planning applications submitted to the district or borough councils, please contact the appropriate district or borough council.

Biodiversity Action Plan (2015-2020)

This document sets out the highest priorities for action to conserve Northamptonshire’s most threatened and declining habitats and species. As well as being able to view and download the BAP in full below, it has also been separated into individual documents for ease of reading.
