Archaeology and biodiversity

As a planning authority the county council has to ensure that natural and historic environmental matters are properly addressed in the planning applications it determines. The county council has a particular role in relation to the archaeological impact of development proposals (where it provides advice to all of the planning authorities in the county as well as itself) and biodiversity (where it has prepared guidance documents, as well as providing advice to the North Northamptonshire planning authorities and Northampton Borough Council).
