    We recognise that the transition from a university environment to becoming a practicing Children’s Social Worker can sometimes be stressful and we want to support, develop, and mentor you through this first year of your career.

  • Practice managers Practice managers

    If you are an experienced social worker or practice manager who is dedicated to improving the lives of children then we want to hear from you.

    Whether you are just stepping up to the practice manager level or have previous experience at providing casework supervision and mentoring to less experienced social workers and support staff, we have an opportunity right for you.

    For an entrant level practice manager you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in mentoring others and providing case work supervision. For more experienced practice managers you will deputise for the team manager and provide leadership and professional supervision in highly complex situations.

  • Team managers Team managers

    If you are an experienced, self-motivated, creative Team Manager who can lead teams and manage change whilst maintaining high service standards and quality we want to hear from you.

    As a Team Manager for Northamptonshire County Council you will lead, manage and direct day-to-day operation of children’s social care teams, allocating work, prioritising workload across the teams, and taking case related decisions.

Learning and development offers

​Pre-Qualification

Each year NCC part fund a number of ‘grow your own’ Social Work degrees for internal staff and support the regional Step Up to Social Work Scheme.

NQSWs

​Social Work Academy (fully supported ASYE year) – NCC has supported over 50 NQSWs to date to complete their ASYE through the nationally acclaimed Social Work Academy and access to Research in Practice (RIP) which is an organisation dedicated to supporting evidence-informed practice with children and families. Through RIP practitioners can access a wide variety of publications, resources and learning opportunities (both online and face to face).

Years 1 – 2

​Ongoing 1:2:1 and group support and career development, access to RIP, social worker suite of training worth £1.5k (including key subject areas and the nationally recognised Strengthening Practice Assessment module).

Experienced SW

​Suite of training worth £1.5k (including key subject areas and the nationally recognised Strengthening Practice Assessment module) as well as access to a range of fully funded Post Qualifying modules and specialist training including Achieving Best Evidence, access to RIP.

Practice manager

Suite of training worth over £1.5k, Leadership and Management Academy to support the transition from SW to Practice Manager, fully funded internationally recognised ILM qualifications, access to a number of leadership and management courses including Leading an Empowered Organisation and Situational Leadership, access specialist programme run by C4EO, fully funded Post Qualifying modules and specialist training including Achieving Best Evidence, access to RIP.

Team manager

​Suite of training worth over £1k, fully funded internationally recognised ILM qualifications, access to a number of leadership and management courses including Leading an Empowered Organisation and Situational Leadership, access to RIP

​Service Manager and beyond

Fully funded internationally recognised ILM qualifications, access to a number of leadership and management courses including Leading an Empowered Organisation and Situational Leadership, access to RIP
