Northamptonshire Highways are planning to undertake a number of improvements to the traffic signal controlled junction at Kingsthorpe Hollow at Kingsthorpe Road, Balfour Road and Burleigh Road.
The works will encompass improvements to pedestrian facilities with alterations to pedestrian crossing points and new footway surfacing, whilst at the same time we will also carry out some much needed localised carriageway resurfacing and amendments to road markings. The traffic signals at the junction will also be upgraded and feature the latest Extra Low Voltage LED signal heads.

Access arrangements and other frequently asked questions
What are the traffic management arrangements for vehicles and pedestrians?
The junction will operate under 4-way temporary signals incorporating pedestrian facilities for the duration of the scheme. Barriers will be in place along the footways to allow for the works to take place safely without the possibility of unauthorised pedestrians being able to enter the working area.
Towards the end of the scheme, we will require 5 or 6 nights to carry out the resurfacing of the carriageway which will necessitate the closure of both side roads.
Will all businesses in the area be open as usual?
The area around Kingsthorpe Hollow offers a wide range of shops and business, full access will remain to all of these during the works. During the night time road closures there will be a signed diversion route, which diverts traffic onto roads of equal or greater category to the closed road.
What are the arrangements for buses?
The bus stop that junctions Kingsthorpe Road and Monarch Road will be suspended during the scheme and where possible bus services will remain as they currently are. However, during the night time road closures, it may be necessary to temporarily divert current bus routes.
