A group of Northampton parents who have completed a course aimed at strengthening their parenting skills will be presented with a certificate tomorrow (FRI 14 MAY)
The parents all committed to a three-month programme designed to help them nurture strong relationships with their children and prevent and manage behaviour problems within their families.
Anger management and positive discipline techniques are fundamental elements of the programme to help parents to act as strong role models to their children.
The programme curriculum also aims to help families develop strong ethnic and cultural roots by emphasising the importance of recognising how different ethnic, cultural or spiritual influences can play an important part in family life.
The programmes explore the negative effects of issues such as drugs and alcohol misuse as well as violence, domestic abuse and gang crime.
The parenting programmes are aimed at parents of children aged between 3 and 18 years.
