A commemorative stone-laying ceremony will be held tomorrow (WED 21 JULY) to mark the construction works for the new school hall, classroom and kitchen at Titchmarsh Church of England Primary School.
The new build will replace a temporary hall and classroom with a permanent building. As well as assemblies, the hall will be used as a dining area and for PE activities. The new building will include a large class room and a kitchen which will enable the school to provide hot school meals for the students and implement their Food Tech curriculum where students can learn basic and important cookery skills.
This will also be the base for more after school provision run by the school and outside agencies for pupils and the local community.
Headteacher Mrs Milton said “We have waited a very long time for this amazing facility. We are so excited about the opportunities which will open up to us. The whole school and village community will benefit from the improved facilities”.
The new hall will be fitted out with new stage lighting and audio visual equipment which will offer opportunities for theatrical productions and social events.
The FOTS, Friends of Titchmarsh School, are already making plans for their first event once the hall has been finished, a 1980s disco.
Pupils and staff are very excited at the prospect of a purpose built hall. One year 3 student said “I am really looking forward to having our gymnastics club in the new hall”.
