Anyone interested in learning more about their heritage and family history can find out how to get started at sessions being offered by Northamptonshire County Council.
Basic family history sessions for beginners have been developed in response to requests from library users and will deliver a basic understanding of the process needed to start researching family history.
The sessions include a presentation and examples of certificates and census returns, are of which will be useful when searching for relatives. Attendees are also guided to key sources of information and services available and will learn about websites on offer from the family history service both within the county’s libraries and externally, including Ancestry.com which can always be accessed free of change in county libraries.
