The history of brewing in Northamptonshire and the many breweries that once operated within the county will be the subject of a talk at Northamptonshire County Council’s Central Library this week, Saturday 4th December.
Local historian and author, Mike Brown, will be hosting the talk and Alaric Neville will discuss the recent revival of Phipps Northampton Brewery Company by himself and his brother, Quentin Neville, who re-established the brewing of the famous Phipps NBC beer in 2004.
All guests (over the age of 18) are invited to sample some of the beer that wasn’t brewed for over 40 years, which included Phipps IPA, Red Star and Ratliffe’s Celebrated Stout. The event also invites guests to purchase a copy of ‘Brewed in Northants’ and have it signed by Mike Brown.
Tickets are free and available from Northamptonshire Central Library. Guests will leave with vouchers for half price pints of Phipps from the Wig and Pen on St. Giles Street.
The talk will be held on Saturday 4th December 2010, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and entry is by ticket only.
