Volunteer and help make the Run '11 a success

31 August 2011

Northamptonshire Sport is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to be part of The Run '11, which takes place on 2nd October 2011 starting from Sixfields Stadium in Northampton.

The Run ‘11, supported by Willmott Dixon, is Northamptonshire’s biggest mass participation closed road running event. The main race will consist of a 10km run; however there are other races including a 5km run and children’s races ensuring everyone has the chance to take part.

Even those people who do not want to run a race can still get involved in this event by volunteering to helping out during the big day. There are various roles such as marshalling, giving out goody bags and handing over medals to participants which all need to be filled in order to make The Run a triumph.

There are massive benefits to being a volunteer for one of Northamptonshire’s biggest sporting events; it helps people to develop and learn new skills whilst gaining experiences which could help lead to future employment. Plus volunteering is not all about the work, it can be a lot of fun, and gives people the chance to meet and socialise with new, like-minded people.

Volunteers from the Run’10 Philip and Therese Narouth said: "The Run proved to be a worthwhile, enjoyable and fun event that we were proud to be involved with".

Volunteers will be invited to attend a training day which will include a briefing session about the event before it takes place. This is a chance to meet other team members and ask any questions to ensure they feel comfortable on the big day. Volunteers will be well looked after and will receive a t-shirt and refreshments on the day as well as a goody bag to say thank you for their help.
