Independent members for new police and crime panel

Northamptonshire County Council is inviting applications for two independent members to join the new Northamptonshire Police and Crime Panel.

On 15th November 2012 Northamptonshire is due to elect a Police and Crime Commissioner, who will then be responsible for setting the priorities and resources for policing in the county.

The Northamptonshire Police and Crime Panel is being established to hold the commissioner to account for the way in which they deliver these responsibilities.

The two independent panel members will serve on the panel along with councillors from each of the local authorities in Northamptonshire, and will contribute to ensuring that the panel has the knowledge and expertise to enable it to carry out its role effectively.

The independent panel members will be appointed to serve from October 2012 to April 2016. Appropriate training for carrying out the role will be provided.
