Don't be an inconsiderate park parker

15 October 2012

New parking restrictions are coming into force along Washbrook Lane by Sywell Country Park in a crackdown on inconsiderate and obstructive parking.

Anyone leaving their vehicle on the verge or road in this area from Friday, October 19 will be liable for a fine.

Civil enforcement officers will be patrolling the area to enforce the new restrictions which will apply to the whole of Washbrook Lane.

Northamptonshire County Council is keen to urge visitors to park in the allocated car parks and support the country park because all of the income raised by the parking charges goes towards maintaining park facilities.

Cllr Heather Smith, county council cabinet member for customer and community services, said: “As well as being a road traffic hazard parking on the lane has caused a range of problems including obstructing farm gateways and private driveways, blocking the road to farm vehicles, and damaging verges and the edges of the road.

“Daily parking charges at the park are very reasonable when compared to many places and the country parks rely on these to help boost their finances.

“If people want to enjoy their country park then it is only fair that they pay a small amount for doing so.”

Parking charges at the park are £2.50 a day with season tickets also available.

More information on the country parks and buying season tickets can be found at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/parks
