Consultation gets underway on proposed changes to marriage and civil partnership registrations

09 December 2014

People in Northamptonshire are being invited to have their say on proposed changes to the availability of statutory marriage and civil partnership registrations.

Northamptonshire County Council’s Registration Service is seeking to amend the current system and provide registrations at Northampton, Kettering and Wellingborough registration offices only, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

The Registration Service would provide a total of seven appointments per week for customers to book, exceeding the current demand which is an average of 5.6 registrations conducted per week across the county.

Why are these changes being proposed?

The changes are being proposed in order to deliver the service in the council’s larger registration offices and to keep more afternoon appointments available for customers wishing to register deaths or other events.

The consultation launches today (December 9) and continues until January 20. To have their say, people can visit www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/consultations, email registrationservice@northamptonshire.gov.uk, or write to Registration Consultation, Registration Service, c/o Trading Standards, Wootton Hall Park, Northampton, NN4 0GB.
