Dates announced for free 'women into business' start up courses

10 September 2014

Women in the county who are new business owners or who might be considering taking the leap into setting up their own business are invited to book their place on free business support courses starting next month in libraries across Northamptonshire.

Dates and locations have been announced for a series of courses set up thanks to £23,000 of funding won by Northamptonshire County Council’s Superfast Northamptonshire project, announced last month.

The courses will help women decide whether self-employment is right for them, and how to use websites and social media effectively to give their new business the best chance of thriving.

Cllr André Gonzalez De Savage, county council cabinet member for economic growth and strategic infrastructure said: “Superfast broadband availability is opening up so many more opportunities for new businesses to get started and excel. Whether it’s selling your products through e-commerce, helping potential customers find your business, backing up your data securely online through a cloud service, or improving communications and streamlining business practices, a fast and reliable internet connection is a valuable asset to any business.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this series of targeted business support courses in areas that are now benefitting from superfast broadband accessibility as a result of the Superfast Northamptonshire Project. Extending the library service’s Enterprise Hub offering to more areas of the county will help new and budding businesses make the most of high speed internet, which is great news for our economy.”
