New download services at libraries

04 February 2014

Northamptonshire County Council is now offering a selection of new downloadable services to library customers.

About the services

The services are all available free of charge to customers via the library section on the council’s website and can be accessed 24 hours a day.

E-audiobooks
Over a thousand bestselling titles are now available and customers can borrow up to ten titles at a time. The e-audiobooks are compatible with iPods, MP3 players, smartphones and computers. Smartphone users can also use the dedicated iOS or Android apps.

E-magazines
Customers can download the latest edition of their favourite magazine, with 50 popular titles to choose from. Back copies are also available. The digital magazines can be easily viewed on any internet device.

Music downloads
Library users can download up to three songs per week, with millions of tracks available and hundreds of different genres to choose from. There is no software to download if using a computer to access the music or smartphone users can download an iOS or Android app.

Deputy leader of the county council and cabinet member for customers and communities Councillor Heather Smith said: “These new services join our popular e-library service to add to the wide range of resources on offer. They are free, they can be available 24/7 and are easily accessed from our website."
