A pioneering partnership between Northamptonshire County Council and British Gas has been recognised with a national award.
Both organisations now share a Green Apple Environment Award in acknowledgement of their newly-formed strategic alliance – a groundbreaking achievement in the public sector.
The alliance was praised for launching a home energy package across the county, helping to address local fuel poverty and stimulating investment for local businesses.
Cllr Michael Clarke, county council cabinet member for transport, highways and environment, said: “This is great news for the county council and British Gas and of course for the people of Northamptonshire.
“Increasingly we’re seeing the importance of public/private sector alliances in how services can be delivered more efficiently.
“This is just the start of our work with British Gas and I believe as the partnership develops more and more projects will be brought on line.”
The Green Apple Environment Awards have become well established as an award for recognising actions taken towards reducing the environmental impact of local authority operations.
