Resurfacing work at Round Spinney roundabout prompts overnight closures

25 February 2015

Improvements at Northampton’s Round Spinney roundabout on the A43 are now moving into the final phase with resurfacing work about to start.

To minimise disruption to the travelling public and maintain and ensure safety, the work will take place overnight with a series of road closures.

When will the work take place?

The work will be carried out between Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 23, with night time road closures between 8pm and 6am.

Cllr Michael Clarke, county council cabinet member for transport, highways and environment, said: “Working at night has several advantages in that it is less disruptive as less traffic is diverted.

“This is a very busy roundabout and I’d like to thank everyone for their patience while work has taken place.”

These road works are part of the wider multi-million pound investment across Northampton to improve the town’s infrastructure to lay the foundations for further economic growth.

This project is increasing the capacity and modernising traffic signals at the roundabout with construction involving lane widening on the roundabout and approaches.

Following the application of new road markings and the commissioning of the new traffic signals, the roundabout will be opened fully to traffic in April 2015.
