Three Northamptonshire schools praised for work with disadvantaged pupils

10 February 2015

County council cabinet member for learning, skills and education Cllr Matt Golby has offered his congratulations to three schools for their work with disadvantaged pupils.

Kingsley Primary School in Northampton, All Saints VA Primary School and Nursery in Wellingborough and Towcester Church of England Primary School were all praised after reporting an improvement in the progress and attainment achieved by their disadvantaged pupils since 2011.

National praise

The three schools narrowly missed out on qualifying for the government’s national Pupil Premium Awards this year, but Minister of State for Schools David Laws has written to the headteachers to congratulate them on their achievements.

Cllr Golby said: “I’m delighted that the three schools have earned this much-deserved recognition for their work to improve pupil performance, particularly among more disadvantaged children.

“I wish them the best of luck in continuing their efforts to boost pupil attainment and would encourage them to enter the awards again next year as they build on their success.”
