Cadets in Northamptonshire are celebrating after having reached the quarter finals of the Toughest Young Fire Crew Challenge.
The Northamptonshire Emergency Services Cadets recently took part in the challenge at Basildon Sporting Village, where they competed against teams from 12 other counties.
Each of the teams took part in a series of drills, relays and team challenges in a bid to clinch the title of winner.
The Northamptonshire team won the first round and made it through to the quarter final stages, before sadly losing out on a semi-final place.
The team have, however, been invited to compete in October, in a bid to become the English representatives at the 21st International Youth Firefighters Competition in Austria next year.
The Northamptonshire team included: Owen Docherty; Matthew Oliver; Mia Heagren; Morgan Greenly; Daniel Emmett and Edward Harvey. They were supported by mother and son Cadet Instructors Shelley and Ollie Bates.
Shelley said: “It was such a good event, they did really well. Our team demonstrated teamwork and good communication skills as well as basic firefighting skills. They worked very well together and they always showed team spirit within their team and with other teams. It was a great opportunity to meet other Cadets too.”
