There will be a series of road closures in Northampton and Kettering for the Aviva Women’s Tour on Sunday 19 June.
Northamptonshire is hosting the fifth and final stage of the world class cycling event, which starts at 10.30am outside Northampton’s Guildhall and at finishes at around 2pm in Kettering town centre.
There will be a rolling road closure along the route managed by a team of police and specialist cycle race motorcyclists travelling in advance of the riders to ensure that the route is clear and safe. It is expected that roads will be closed for between 20 and 30 minutes at a time.
There will also be the following road closures:
- The Ridings, Spring Gardens, Derngate, Guildhall Road, St Giles Street, Dychurch Lane, Mercers Row and George Row in Northampton will be closed from 4am to 1pm on Sunday 19 June.
- Gipsy Lane, Northampton Road and Sheep Street between Bowling Green Road and Northampton Road in Kettering will be closed between 12pm and 3pm.
- Sheep Street, Market Place, High Street and Market Street in Kettering will be closed from 4.45am and 6pm.
There will be no parking allowed from 5pm on Saturday 18 June in Derngate, Guildhall Road and around All Saints Church in Northampton, while parking will not be permitted in Sheep Street and Market Street in Kettering from 6pm.
London Road car park in Kettering will be closed to the public on Sunday 19 June as it will be used by the race teams. Free parking will be available at Northampton Road Recreation Ground.
