On 27 June the Supreme Court ruled that the Civil Partnership Act 2004, which only applies to same-sex couples, is incompatible with the European Convention on Human Rights. This judgment will now be considered by The Government Equalities Office (GEO).

At this time the legislation remains the same with no provision for opposite sex civil partnerships to take place. Therefore, current registration arrangements are unaffected. If you are interested in forming an opposite-sex civil partnership in the future if the legislation changes, please let us know and we would be delighted to help you celebrate your day.
