Advice And Information
Schools Hill, Cheadle, Cheshire SK8 1JE
The Together Trust organise independent meetings for parents and carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), or young people, and their local authority and school when there is a disagreement about how best to meet their child’s needs.
Mediation can take place following decisions by a local authority about certain aspects of an education, health and care (EHC) plan. Parents, carers and young people must now obtain advice and consider mediation before submitting an appeal to the first tier tribunal.
Disagreement resolution is completely voluntary and applies to all children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), not just those being assessed for or who have an education, health and care (EHC) plan. The arrangements can help to resolve different types of disagreement or prevent them from escalating further.
