Service description:
The Kettering RDA provides therapeutic horse riding for children with a disability or special educational need. Riding can be particularly beneficial to people who have profound and multiple learning difficulties because it is multi-sensory experience. It can help with communication and social skills, build confidence, and awareness of others.

Around 36 volunteers run term-time sessions (on Wednesdays and Thursdays) for around fifty children from local special schools. The group has four ponies, and lessons are taken by RDA-approved instructors. Each rider has up to three helpers, depending on their level of need.

Every other year, the Kettering RDA group take a group of children from one of the schools on holiday to the Clwyd Special Riding Centre in Wales.

Please note: the Kettering RDA is a registered charity (No. 1074319) run by volunteers, and therefore relies on donations.
