Service description:
The East Anglian Medical Genetics Service comprises the genetics laboratories (molecular genetics and cytogenetics) and clinical genetics and together they:

• Diagnose genetic disorders - in the clinic and using lab tests.

• Counsel individuals and families - for example offering risk assessments for patients who have a family history of an inherited disorder or familial cancer syndrome.

• Research the causes of birth defects and genetic diseases.

• Educate health care professionals about genetics.

The service is provided by an integrated team of doctors, genetic counsellors and laboratory scientists, who are supported by secretarial and administrative staff.
