Services for children and young people in Northamptonshire (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities.

Keyways Housing Allocation Scheme

Type of service:
c/o Kettering Borough Council, Municipal Offices, Bowling Green Road, Kettering, Northamptonshire NN15 7QX
Service description:
Keyways is a Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system for allocating social housing. It is a collaboration between Corby Borough Council, Kettering Borough Council, and the Borough Council of Wellingborough.

Rather than a borough council deciding which housing to offer you, the Keyways website allows you to browse online adverts, choose a property yourself, and apply for it directly. What’s more, you can choose from all three borough council areas.

Available properties in Corby, Kettering, and Wellingborough are advertised each week on the Keyways website and in the main council offices. A printed newsletter is available if you cannot access Keyways by other means.

Property adverts on the Keyways website state whether priority will be given to applicants that have a specific mobility or disability need. When you register with Keyways, you should tell them if a member of your household has an illness or disability and is being negatively affected by your current accommodation. Not stating a need for a ground floor property, the correct bathing facilities, or adaptations could affect your position on shortlist.

Types of Property Available:

• Social Rented Properties and Affordable Rented Properties
Properties provided by a borough council or a housing association

• Low Cost Home Ownership (LCHO) Property
Also known as ‘shared ownership’ or ‘shared equity’ properties, LCHOs help first time buyers, key workers, and social tenants purchase part of their home and start building their own equity

• Private sector property
An approved property available from a private landlord

Please note: if you are a council tenant looking for a mutual exchange, please visit for Kettering properties or for Corby properties.
